We all know that humans has created computers but did anyone ever thought that one day computer would recognize its owner’s mood and temper. Well this has also been done by AFFECTIVA.

Affectiva and Emotient are two startups which are heading with the above mentioned vision, even their technology has been implied in the market for research and analysis work. Now let’s see the science behind this awesome technology. Affectiva offers cloud based service which rear facial expression i.e. ‘Emotions on Service’. Few days ago the company has launched free for mobile software module in big research firms, companies and ad agencies.

Gabi Zijderveld, vice-president in marketing, Affectiva, has been stated that this will be world’s largest “emotion” recognition system with 3.2 million faces over 75 countries this will help in setting us baseline in terms of facial expression. This new technology will read user’s whole face from eyebrows to lips from ears to nose. Well most of us must be thinking how this will distinguish between real smile and fake smile. So to resolve this, initially the technology will read the idle position of face and accordingly it will channelize and analyze.

And now even Hershey, world’s chocolate typhoon is also collaborating with Affective with Wild Blue Technologies with the idea of installing user smile in return of a treat. It will be called as ‘smile sampler’ which will be more like a vending machine. Further Wild Blue Technology’s president Mr Steven Mclean said, there is no worry regarding user face leak from the machine. It is totally safe and confidential because those images are not actually photos of face instead they are instantly converted into face map that only the machine can read and that too will be deleted after X time. That machine will also ensure that one user will take only treat a day.

Frank Jimenez, Hershey’s senior director of insights-driven performance and retail evolution (such a big name) further contributed that, this collaboration will help retailers in gaining more and more customers in their shop which eventually help in increased sales record.

No wonder Affectiva’s new technology will be a revolutionary one for today’s customer. We are sure at least kids would love Hershey giving them a treat everyday!
