Celebrating its 2nd Anniversary in INDIA on October 12, Huawei has launched its much awaited HONOR 8 in India after its initial launch in China and the US. Along with it the smartphone maker has unveiled its first ‘Make In India’ phone Honor Holly 3 and an another variant of HONOR 8 the HONOR 8 Smart with slightly less features.

After a successful run with Honor 7 last year, Huawei is here to yet again take the already boiling smartphone market by the storm. Honor 8 is strategically priced at Rs. 29,999 whereas its Smart version is available for Rs. 19,999 and Holly 3 for Rs. 9,999. Honor 8 is exclusively available at the Huawei’s retail stores across the country and on online platforms Flipkart and Amazon while the other two devices will go on sale soon. The colors available are Sapphire blue, Pearl White and Sunrise Gold.

Honor 8 features a 5.5 inch Full HD, IPS LTPS display with a pixel density of 423ppi which gives striking clear quality and the display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device runs on Huawei’s Emotion UI 4.1 based on Android OS v6.0 (Marshmallow) moreover Huawei is planning to release EMUI 5.0 based on Android OS v7.0 later this year. It houses a powerful Octa core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. The 16 nanometer chip along with a 4GB RAM promises a great overall performance alongside reduced energy consumption. For gamers Mali-T880 MP4 GPU truly comes as a delight.

The flagship device is fitted with a non-removable 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery with fast charging technology. The company claims it boost charges to 47% in just 30 minutes. There is an onboard storage of 32GB which is further expandable via microSD card upto 128GB.

The dual camera setup which first featured in Huawei P9 is the highlight of the phone, it consists of a set of two 12MP lenses – a RGB and a monochrome lens which collects more light for clicking premium quality pictures with stunning details. Alongside it is a 8MP front camera that take care of the selfie crazy generation clicking brilliant selfies in appropriate light.

The device is designed quite elegantly and is easy to hold single handedly thanks to its 5.2 inch screen. The glass panel on the back coupled with vibrant colours gives it a premium look. The volume and the power button are comfortably placed on the right edge with Sim and microSD card tray going into the left edge. The speaker grill is at the bottom alongside audio jack and USB Type-C port for charging.

For security purpose Honor 8 hosts a multi function fingerprint scanner placed on the back panel. It is based on level 4 fingerprint acquisition algorithm which adds extra security making the device even more save. Also the sensor can be used for taking selfies as well as pulling down notification bar with the help of certain gestures.
With such great functionality Honor 8 is up against Oneplus 3, Asus Zenfone 3 and Xiaomi Mi 5.

Huawei’s smartphone segment Honor has seen extraordinary growth since it entered the Indian smartphone market. Focusing mainly on design and next gen technology Huawei has been quite successful in attracting long term customers. With a customer centric approach Huawei is planning to regularly provide software updates to enhance user experience and further expand its user base.
