GIONEE S6 Pro, the successor to its S series, was launched finally in INDIA on 30 September 2016 and along with it the company has unveiled its first VR headset. The smartphone competes against the likes of Xiaomi Mi 5, One Plus 3, ASUS Zenfone 3 and Le Max 2.
After doing the rounds with Gionee S6 and Splus, the smartphone maker Gionee has finally launched its latest smartphone S6 pro in INDIA on 30 September 2016 priced at Rs. 23,999. Along with this the company has unveiled its first VR headset priced at Rs. 2,499. The S6 Pro will be available at the retail stores, starting October 1. The colours available are Gold and Rose Gold.

The flagship device features a 5.5 inch Full HD, vibrant IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 401ppi as well as a 2.5D curved edge to give crystal clear quality with enough brightness. The screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Gionee S6 pro runs on Amigo OS 3.2 based on Android OS v6.0.1 (Marshmallow) and is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa core MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor. The internal storage is 64GB which is further expandable via microSD card upto 128GB.
The device functions smoothly with a massive 4GB RAM giving a great user experience. In the gaming department Mali-T860 GPU comes as a delight for heavy gaming. Backed by a large 3130mAh Li-Polymer battery, the company claims 5-6 hours of on screen time and approximately 500 hours of standby time. The battery is non removable.
S6 Pro comes with a 13MP Primary camera and 8MP front camera. Gionee has packed an impressive front camera equipped with a screen flash capable of clicking brilliant selfies in even low light conditions catering to the needs of the selfie generation. The rear camera is armed with a sony sensor and a LED flash to capture premium quality pictures and low light imaging.
The design is quite admirable, with a metallic uni-body design which gives it a premium look. The screen to body ratio is 72.4%. The volume and the power buttons are comfortably placed on the right edge whereas the dual sim tray goes into the left edge. The speaker grill is at the bottom along with the USB Type-C charging port.The audio port is on the top.
Gionee has added many smart and unique apps and features with its Amigo OS, some of them include Smart Arrange, Mood Wallpapers, Private Space. Desktop Editor, Video Editor with smart editing tools, Image+, Video beautification, Time lapse and Text Recognition include some other inbuilt ones.
On the security front S6 Pro has fingerprint scanner, one of the safest technology to keep things secure. The home button on the front doubles up as fingerprint scanner. For connectivity, the device supports 4G and is VoLTE enabled too.
Gionee has further stepped in the Virtual Reality segment with the launch of their very own VR headset to enhance user experience by adding a whole new dimension. The VR headset can be bought at a price of Rs. 2499. S6 pro comes preloaded with Gionee’s VR app which sports a split screen feature allowing users to watch the video and keep a check on notifications at the same time. Gionee has its own G-store where virtual reality based games can be downloaded.
